Court Security

The Court Security Division of the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office is directed by Captain Thomas Cates and supported by 7 Sheriff’s Deputies.

Deputies are charged with the security of the physical building, the care, custody and control of Buchanan County Jail Inmates or Inmates of Missouri Department of Corrections that must appear for court proceedings, and the security and operations of the individual Courtrooms.

Deputies are assigned to the screening station at the public entrance of the courthouse. There are also deputies assigned to each of the six Divisions of the 5th Judicial Circuit Court, Buchanan County, of Missouri, which have their courtrooms in the Buchanan County Courthouse.
