Kayron Lorenzo Keith, 19, was sentenced today by Judge Daniel Kellogg to serve a term of 10 years for Robbery in the First Degree following an evidentiary probation hearing in Division Four of the Circuit Court. Prosecuting Attorney Ron Holliday called 6 witnesses to the stand to testify concerning the various alleged violations of probation against Keith. Attorney Dawn Williams represented Keith in the proceeding. Following the hearing, Judge Kellogg ordered the defendant’s probation revoked and the sentence of 10 years to be executed.
Kayron Keith was convicted of Robbery in the First Degree in reference to his participation in the armed robbery, which occurred at 7:30 p.m. on June 19, 2017, at the Quik-Stop at 2607 Frederick. Two individuals entered the store, armed with a handgun, and held up the clerk. Keith originally was placed on probation by Judge Kellogg and granted a suspended imposition of sentence and further ordered to spend 120 days in the Department of Corrections as shock detention and to receive drug treatment.
The Buchanan County Prosecutor’s office filed a motion to revoke his probation in March with the court concerning numerous alleged violations of the order of probation of the court, including failure to report as directed, changing his address without permission, receiving stolen property, and resisting arrest.
Prosecuting Attorney Ron Holliday explained that Keith would have to serve a minimum of 85% of the sentence before being considered for parole because the offense is a “dangerous felony” in the State of Missouri. Therefore, Keith will be required to serve a minimum of 8 ½ years in the Department of Corrections.
