A jury found Shawn Flaherty guilty of discharging a firearm and causing his wife serious physical injury. The Victim was shot at her St. Joseph residence during a dispute which took place in June of last year.
After three hours of jury deliberations, guilty verdicts were returned for domestic assault in the second degree and armed criminal action
Police officers testified that they were dispatched to 918 West Valley in response to a husband having shot his wife. Upon their arrival, the victim in the case was found on the floor with a gunshot wound to
her leg. Witnesses who were present at the time of the shooting were able to get the defendant under control and hold him until the officers arrived.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Michelle Davidson, tried the case for the State. Sentencing on the case is set for July 25, 2019 in front of the Honorable Patrick Robb.
