Dwight K. Scroggins, Jr., Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney, today announced the filing of charges in the fatal weekend shooting. Charles Leroy Coats, Jr. has been charged with murder in the second degree, class A felony, in the shooting death of Jason Jabar Ginn. The Prosecuting Attorney has filed a motion asking that bond be denied in the case. The charge carries a penalty from 10-30 years or life in prison and requires any sentence to be at least 85% served prior to eligibility for parole consideration. The defendant is not yet in custody.
