The Buchanan County Commission appoints members to numerous boards and commissions. Citizens can participate in local government by applying to volunteer for membership on these boards and commissions. Each board and commission has specific prerequisites for appointment. An application is required at least 14 days prior to the expiration of a term. Once the application is received the Commission will review and schedule a meeting with selected candidates to discuss the details of the board appointment. The Commission will then appoint a member to the board. All board members must apply for the next term if they wish to continue to serve. Applications are kept on file for up to 1 year.
