Employee Benefits

The following benefits are provided for all regular full-time and regular part-time employees who regularly work at least 30 hours per week.  This is a summary of benefits only.  Additional details can be obtained from the Human Resources Department, 411 Jules St, Room 201, or by calling 816-271-1528.

COMPENSATION:

Payday occurs every other Friday for the pay period ending the preceding Saturday at midnight.

INSURANCE BENEFITS:

Employee insurance benefits are effective on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.  Enrollment for employee and/or dependents must be completed at time of employment or during the annual open enrollment period. Insurance premiums are paid twice each month via payroll deduction. 

Medical Insurance:  The County currently has two medical plan options provided by CIGNA.  There is a Qualified High-Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP) and a traditional Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan.  Coverage for dependents is available and any additional premium is deducted through payroll.  The current monthly employee premium cost for each plan is listed below:

Health Savings Account (H.S.A), Flexible Spending Account (F.S.A.), Health Reimbursement Account (H.R.A.):  The County will contribute $100/month ($1,200/year) to an employee’s H.S.A. while they are enrolled in the QHDHP.  Employees may elect to contribute additional funds to their H.S.A. up to the annual IRS limits (currently $4,150/ind or $8,300/fam).  If you are not eligible for an H.S.A., the County will contribute $1,200 annually to a F.S.A. ($500) and H.R.A. ($700).   Employees may elect to contribute additional funds to their F.S.A.  

Dental Insurance:  The County currently has two dental plan options provided by Delta Dental.  There is a PPO plan and a MAC plan (includes orthodontia coverage).  Coverage for dependents is available and any additional premium is deducted through payroll.   The current monthly employee premium cost for each plan is listed below:

Vision Insurance:  The County currently offers a voluntary vision insurance plan through EyeMed.  The currently monthly employee premium cost for the vision plan is listed below:

Life Insurance:  The County currently provides a $20,000 term life insurance policy provided by The Standard Life Insurance Company, which includes accidental death & dismemberment at no cost.  Employees may apply for additional term life insurance for themselves and their dependents.   The premiums for supplemental life insurance are based on the age of the employee and the amount of coverage requested.   The premiums for dependent life insurance for an employee’s spouse are also based on the age of the employee and the amount of coverage requested.  Employees may apply for dependent coverage for children at a cost of $1.00/month for $10,000 coverage; this covers all dependent children.  

Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability Insurance:   The County currently offers voluntary Short-Term Disability insurance, as well as Long-Term Disability insurance; both plans are provided by The Hartford.  The premiums for coverage are based on the employee’s annual salary and/or age.  Premiums for both plans are payroll deducted.   

HealthJoy including Employee Assistance Program:   The County currently offers employees to participate in HealthJoy at no cost.  HealthJoy provides a convenient app that empowers employees to make better use of their benefits, saving time and money.  This app also provides access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).   

RETIREMENT BENEFITS:

LAGERS: The County participates in LAGERS (Local Government Employees Retirement System) retirement program.  The County pays the full benefit for all eligible employees.  Employees are vested in the LAGERS program after 5 years of creditable service.  For more information about LAGERS visit their website at www.molagers.org 

CERF: The County participates in CERF (County Employees Retirement Fund) retirement program.  Employees are required to contribute 4% of their gross salary.   Employees are vested in the CERF program after 8 years of creditable service.  For more information about CERF visit their website at www.mocerf.org 

457 Savings Plan:  The County participates in the CERF 457 Savings Plan administered by Empower.   Employees may elect to contribute a portion of their salary (minimum $10/pp) to this deferred compensation plan.   The CERF Board of Directors determines annually if there will be a match to these contributions and the percentage of the match.  For more information on the 457 Savings Plan visit https://www.mocerf.org/CERFPlan/VoluntaryContributions.html 

LEAVE BENEFITS:

Paid Time Off (PTO):  Employees earn Paid Time Off annually.  New employees do not earn PTO until completion of their 90-day introductory period.  Employees may carry over 5 days of PTO from one year to the next.  Paid Time Off is earned as follows:

0 to end of 9 years of service............................................20 days 

Begin of 10 to end of 14 years of service..........................23 days 

Begin of 15 to end of 19 years of service..........................26 days 

Begin of 20 years of service..............................................30 days

Dependent Care Account:  Employees may choose to have dependent care expenses deducted pre-tax through a D.C.A.  

Free Parking:   Parking tags are provided to courthouse employees in designation parking lots.  

Gym Memberships:   County employees may choose to participate in wellness activities that are eligible for reimbursement.  Memberships at the REC Center and the YMCA will be paid by the County directly to the facility.  Other fitness membership programs can be submitted for reimbursement of up to $35/month.  

Tickets at Work:   The County participates in the Tickets at Work employee discount program.  This program provides discounts for travel, entertainment, movie tickets, electronics and much more.
